Message from Department Head (Resin Administration)

Phenolic resin is known as the "This is an Old still New Resin" and is the key material of the Resin Administration. Although it is the world's first plastic invented by Dr. Bakeland in 1907, the plastic continues to evolve and is a remarkable material. We, in the Resin Administration, continue to challenge the world with the evolution of phenol resin, through the development and manufacture of products that match the needs of the times including castings for automobile applications, resistors for liquid crystals, and high heat resistant foam applications.

Phenolic Resin

Since the founding of the company in 1945, the industrial resin division has been engaged in the manufacture and sale of industrial resins including introduction of heat curing resins in 1945, shell mold resin in 1954 and resin coated sand in 1962 and research and development of phenolic resin. In addition it is currently engaged in the manufacture and sale of industrial resins for casting, foaming, electronics material applications and other applications.
Phenolic Resin, which among the heat curing resins, has high insulation properties and even greater heat resistance and flame resistance. The company exploiting such qualities has developed wide applications for the resin.

Casting

AV Lite Shell Mold Resin (Phenolic Resin for Casting) and RCS (Resin Coated Sand) boast leading market share in the domestic market. There is more than half-a-century of accumulated technology, and the company has been engaged in resolving customers problems and needs. Recently, measures relating to the environment have become a critical issue and, at AOC, we have been engaged in the development of phenol resins containing low levels of formaldehyde and effective utilization of powder produced in casting. In addition to shell mode applications, the company manufactures and markets types of binders including organic self-hardening binder and gas hardening binder as casting binders.

Phenolic Foam & Industrial Applications

Using phenol resin's qualities of heat resistance and flame resistance, we have developed a resin system for phenolic foam (Phenolic Resin Foam). This is principally being used as insulation. Phenolic Foam, among plastic foam, excels in flame resistance and is able to obtain certification as quasi-incombustible material. As environmental measures, the company is developing new technologies such as non-fluorocarbon, non-halogen systems and high insulation systems
For other industrial applications, building materials, refractory products, carbon, magnets, felt and friction material, "AV Lite" is also used.
We will provide Phenolic Resin that meets the customer needs utilizing the qualities of Phenolic Resin.

Resin Materials for Electronics

The company manufactures phenol conductors and phenolic resin for electronics materials (Photo Resist Application, PS Board Applications). Phenol conductors are used principally as photo-resist sensitized core (Ballast Material) and base resin material. Through controlling reaction conditions, it can be made into a variety of compounds, and we can synthesize a conductor that match customer's requirements.
Phenolic resin for photo-resist performs an extremely high level of molecular weight control, and a variety of resins that may be demanded by customers can be manufactured accurately and with repetitiveness. Moreover, reduction of metallic content to a level significantly below 100 ppb has been achieved.

Molding Materials

Thermosetting resin, with its superior qualities, (Heat Resistance, Electrical Properties, Measurement Stability and the like) make it an indispensable material for daily necessities.
"AV Lite" is of high quality and is used in a wide range of applications including electrical, electronics, automobiles and machineries. In addition to meeting a variety of requirements, including power saving and compact, there is a complete system for servicing.
