Foundry Materials and Functional ResinsBinder for Alkaline Phenols

Introduction to the binder for alkaline phenols compatible with new sand, reclaimed sand, special sand and others to exhibit outstanding mold properties.

Overview

The organic self-hardening binder for alkaline phenols for molds is a self-hardening binder that produces the force of binding sand particles when alkaline phenol reins are neutralized and polymerized by an acid generated in hydrolysis of ester added together with water-soluble alkaline phenol resins to silica sand and other aggregate.
As an alternative to the conventional organic self-hardening casting process, the process with the alkaline phenol binder is an effective way to improve the working environment. The casting quality is widely recognized, and the binder is finding increased application.

Forms

  • Liquid resins and hardening agents

Applications

  • Aluminum casting
  • Casting of cast iron and cast steel
  • Applicable to various other casting methods

Features

  • Odor at the time of mixing and smoke generation at the time of adding hot water are so limited that the working environment is considerably improved.
  • Pinholes and other defects arising from the nitrogen content will be removed.
  • Spherodization of ductile cast iron caused by the phosphorus content and sulfurization of cast steel are eliminated.
  • Collapsibility of mold at high temperature is so high that it is effective in preventing hot tears of cast steel.
  • Expansion of the mold is so limited that veining is less likely to occur.
  • With a high level of collapsibility, it is ideal for light alloy casts.
  • It produces outstanding depth curability of casts.
  • Heat resistant, it is effective to prevention of scabbing and other defects.
