Foundry Materials and Functional ResinsReclaimed Sand

Introducing reclaimed sand prepared by recycling coal fired sand emitted through the fluidized roasting and polishing processes.

Overview

We bring coal fired sand emitted from users and recycles them into silica sand through fluidized roasting and polishing processes. We maintain reclamation equipment at its Aichi Factory (in Niwa-gun, Aichi Prefecture), its Tochigi Factory (in Otawara, Tochigi Prefecture) and its Hiroshima Factory (in Shobara, Hiroshima Prefecture), so it is capable of performing reclamation nationwide. Because it introduced the reclamation equipment at an early date, We have advanced reclamation technologies to the point were it is capable of independently reclaiming cerabeads and other special sand (at the Hiroshima Factory only).

Forms

  • Sand

Applications

  • General casting and others
  • For replenishment of main mold sand
  • Sand for scattering on golf courses
  • Sand for children’s play sand pits

Features

  • It may be used as aggregate not merely for shell molding but for many different casting processes.
  • With limited expansivity, this aggregate is effective against veining and other casting defects.
  • This reclaimed sand may be mixed with all of our RCS currently in use.

About recycling

We have been recycling casting waste sand for around 40 years. Reusing the reclaimed sand as resin coated sand, it has been working to cut waste emissions and to reduce resource consumption and thus making significant contribution to environmental conservation.

The recycling equipment is classified as industrial waste disposal facilities under the Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act. We have obtained permission for its installation in accordance with paragraph (1) of Article 15 and permission for industrial waste management service in accordance with paragraph (6) of Article 14. It is now compulsory to publish information on the maintenance and management status of the equipment in accordance with the provisions in paragraph (2) of Article 8-3, paragraph (6) of Article 9-3 and paragraph (2) of Article 15-2-3, which came into force on April 1, 2011, in addition to keeping the records on them that was imperative until then. The provisions, aimed at ensuring the transparency of information on waste disposal facilities and providing the public with reassurance and confidence in the facilities, also made it compulsory to publish a plan on equipment maintenance and management. In response to this move, we commenced publication of the status of maintenance and the management of recycling and roasting furnaces at its individual factories.

We capitalize on the recycling technology it has developed over many years to manage and maintain the equipment. It will work to reduce waste emissions and resource consumption with a view to constantly increasing the recycling rate and thereby contributing to environmental conservation.
